This latest release is a "monthly update" to versions 21H1 (and 21H2), which includes new features, because of this the major build number will remain the same and Windows Update will indicate a monthly release to version 21H1 (build 20348). Many of you have been so eager to receive our feature updates we've release some of them earlier this year in January and February. Windows Holographic, version 22H1 is now available and brings a great set of new features to HoloLens 2 users and IT professionals.
Want to check your apps, or app versions? You can select the Library icon and Get updates. (The company name and user has been censored in this screenshot). You'll be able to access any company apps by selecting the Work icon which looks like a briefcase in the top left.
With the new store you'll see apps that are available for HoloLens 2, and you'll be able to scroll through different various industries and solutions to view apps that may be useful to you. Since this is an app update it will be distributed to all HoloLens 2 devices, regardless of OS version. When the update is complete, you'll see a storefront very similar to the store app that is available on desktop. This app update will occur seamlessly when the Microsoft Store app itself is updated. To help provide clarity this release notes page will only provide information for the most current release version. These are always minor updates and never change the major build number. In between our feature updates, we also release fixes and improvements as well as security updates. Prior to that naming convention was based on year/month. The "21" in the name indicates the year (2021) and "H1" indicates the first half of that year. For example, version 21H1 became available in the first half of 2021. The current naming convention is year/half. The Windows Holographic version name gives you an indication of the time when the release became available. When using a deferral policy only a change in major build number is considered a feature update.
